Lains Shooting Ground is situated between Andover to the East and Amesbury to the West. It is 200 yards South of the A303, opposite Thruxton Motor Racing Circuit.
Remain on the A303 until you have passed the exit for Thruxton Village. Leave at the next exit - brown signpost for Thruxton Motor Racing Circuit. At the bottom of the slip road, turn left. After 200 yards or so, you will see Lains Farm on your right. The entrance to the shooting ground is directly opposite on the left. Proceed up the track for 200 yards and park at the end.
Remain on the A303 until you have passed the Countess roundabout at Amesbury (junction with the A345). Leave the A303 at the junction with the A338 (signposted to Marlborough and Salisbury). Be warned that the brown sign for Thruxton does not appear until the sliproad - it is very easy to miss. Turn right at the bottom of the slip road and pass under the A303. Turn left at the roundabout (following the brown Thruxton signs at this stage). After a little over one mile, this road passes back under the A303 to the North side. You then pass through the village of Thruxton Down (called Racedown on the map). Ignore the left turn to Thruxton Circuit. Immediately after this left turn, take the right turn towards Quarley and pass back under the A303. if you miss this right turn, you will be on the slip road to take you back onto the A303. After 200 yards or so, you will see Lains Farm on your right. The entrance to the shooting ground is directly opposite on the left. Proceed up the track for 200 yards and park at the end.
You can view an overhead photo of our premises taken above the A303 and also a locally drawn map by clicking either of the appropriate thumbnails below.
